Home away from Home in Brookline, MA
Dear future tenants,Over the past decades I have been hosting international students, medical fellows, researchers and others from a variety of countries in my house. Offering my home to you is a great pleasure and I enjoy the reciprocal exchange of cultural experiences - a genuine enrichment.
If you are looking for a comfortable housing option at an affordable price and a home away from home, please feel free to scroll down and gain an insight on what it might be like for you to live in my house.
The house itself:
Walk up the stairs to my beautiful Victorian style house, built in 1898, a typical representation of architecture in New England. It has 13 clean rooms, 3 bathrooms (shower, bathtub, toilet and sink) and a wonderful deck and porch. A few of the bedrooms are available for you. During your stay you have the possibility to use a fully equipped kitchen, one bathroom is for my private use, the others are for you to share. Every room is equipped for all seasons (radiators during the winter and fans during the summer).
I host musical soirées, the musicians love to use my beautiful baby grand Baldwin piano. You are welcome to peruse my book collection in the library. Feel free to relax and enjoy the afternoon sun in my colorful garden.
The neighborhood:
The house is located in a safe and quiet residential neighborhood with an international population. Living next to a park and just a few steps away from public transportation and supermarkets, as well as the Hubway bike station at Washington Square, is very convenient. Also Coolidge Corner, a place for entertainment and international food is just a few minutes walk away. Running routes with dirt pavement around the reservoirs (5 K distance) have been used by former tenants. Parking might be available upon request.![]() |

Something about myself:
Writing about myself has some subjectivity to it, so I have extracted some quotes of letters of reference, written by former tenants. For those of you who are more into visual stimuli, I am sharing some photos! Please feel free to read through and also ask additional questions. I am looking forward to find out more about you, future tenant!![]() |

"Fran was very polite, helpful and professional. Her emails explained everything and she is open to any questions the prospective tenant might have. Her responses are prompt too.[...] Fran is very knowledgeable about all kinds of cultural events and places, as well as natural gems of Brookline and Boston area and beyond. Fran extends invitations to dances, concerts, visits to landmarks. These truly made me realize I was sharing a living space with someone who cares deeply about people."

"I entered Fran's house cold, anxious and jet-lagged. But I was immediately welcomed with a hospitality, that not even warmed me up, but made me feel comfortable to an extend that completely took me by surprise. Living with Fran is like being part of an extended family. Those who want to take part are included in weekly meetings at Panera's, daily dinners and even the annual Jewish Passover celebration."

"She is welcoming, patient, understanding and in a whole you become part of a family.[...] I highly recommend staying with her, who invites and embraces a diverse and loving community of individuals in her home. With her warmth and welcoming demeanor you will feel like home away from home."

"I found my stay in Fran's house better than I could ever have hoped.[...] As I explored Boston that first weekend and every day since then, Fran has been interested in what I am doing and how my days are proceeding. Fran is very considerate of my study time and the house is very conducive for studying resting and playing. Fran allows independence, but doesn't consider you to be just a tenant. Living under the same roof she is always available to lend advice and comfort when needed."
